About Istamet 50 Mg/500 Mg Tablet

This medication is used for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps to keep the blood sugar levels in the body under control. The patients are advised to maintain a healthy diet and do regular exercise daily along with medicine.

The medicine has certain side effects. The most common ones are stomach pain and problems, diarrhea, vomiting, nasal congestion, abdominal pain, anxiety, blurred vision, sore throat, hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis.

The contraindications of the medicine include type 1 diabetes, hypersensitivity, renal problems, lactation, cardiovascular diseases and septicemia. The duration of the effect of the medicine is not known.

The onset of action for medicine is around 1 to 3 hours of consumption. There were no reports that suggested that medicine is addictive or habit-forming.

The tablet is not considered to be safe with alcohol as it may have adverse effects on the patient. The doctor must be consulted before consumption. It is not recommended for pregnant women and must be taken under medical supervision.
