Itch Guard Cream
About Itch Guard Cream
Itch Guard is a medicine prescribed as a broad-spectrum anti-fungal cream. It is used to treat various skin infections which a person may get quite often, such as athlete's foot, jock itch and ringworm.
The cream provides relief from other symptoms caused by these infections, such as itching, skin irritation, burning and cracking of skin. This medication may also be used to treat infections such as yeast and other fungal infections on skin.
The cream inhibits the production of ergosterol which is an important component of the fungal cell membrane. When enough ergosterol is not formed by the infection, causing bacteria or fungus, the microorganisms develop holes in its membrane lead to leakage in their system.
Itch Guard tube cream is one of the most widely used anti-fungal creams. The main composition of the cream consists of Clotrimazole. It can be given to a patient without the prescription of a doctor.
Usual dosage: Apply to the affected area twice daily (morning and evening) for 7 consecutive days.
Wash hands before applying or wear gloves. Apply a thin film of gel, lotion, or solution to the affected area. May apply a porous dressing. Report persistent burning, swelling, itching, worsening of the condition, or lack of response to therapy.
Itch Guard Cream should not be used for treatment of systemic fungal infection; safety and effectiveness of clotrimazole lozenges (troches) in children <3 years of age have not been established.
