Jeev 5Mcg Injection is a vaccine for the Japanese encephalitis virus. It is administered subcutaneously, via injections. It can be given to individuals who are one year old and older. It is usually given to people who are travelling to a region where Japanese encephalitis is endemic, especially during the transmission season. Such persons are also recommended to take all possible precautions to prevent mosquito bites, as that as the primary mode of transmission of this virus.
The side effects caused due to Jeev 5Mcg Injection are usually mild, and are generally localized. They include tenderness, redness, swelling, fever, fever, headache, rashes, chills, myalgia, nausea, dizziness, vomiting and abdominal pain. A commonly observed effect is urticaria and skin problems, especially on extremities like the lips. The onset of the adverse effects can be delayed for up to 14 days after the initial shot. Patients developing symptoms of urticaria and / or angiodema, are considered allergic to Jeev 5Mcg Injection. Hypersensitivity to thimerosal is a contraindication to Jeev 5Mcg Injection.
