Lactagard injection belongs to a group of drugs called cephalosporin antibiotics and is composed of Cefoperazone and Sulbactam. It is used for treating bacterial infections which are resistant to this group of antibiotics. This drug works by inhibiting the cell wall synthesis of the bacteria, preventing it from growing. Depending on your condition, medical health, age, body weight and reaction to medication your doctor will prescribe a specific dosage.

Special precautions should be taken before taking this medicine if you suffer from hypersensitivity to penicillins, colitis, renal impairment and other gastrointestinal diseases. Dosage reduction may be necessary for you if you have liver dysfunction, alcohol addiction, malabsorption states or a poor nutritional status.

This medication is composed of Cefoperazone and Sulbactam. Cefoperazone is a kind of antibiotic that helps deal with bacterial infection. The medication prevents the synthesis of the bacterial cell walls, as it binds to the penicillin-binding proteins. The drug stops the last stage of the bacterial cell wall formation. Sulbactam works as a beta-lactamase inhibitor by binding to beta-lactamase enzyme produced by bacterial cells, which in turn inhibits its enzymatic action and prevents beta-lactam antibiotics from being metabolised by the enzyme.
