About Levosal Syrup

Belonging to a member of fluoroquinolone antibiotic family, Levosal syrup fights against bacterial infections like tuberculosis,pneumonia, laryngitis, cellulitis, gastroenteritis, acute or chronic bronchitis, urinary tract infections, tonsillitis, , anthrax and plague, acute or chronic bronchitis, urinary tract infections, tonsillitis, anthrax and plague. This antibiotic also treats infections of the pelvis, kidney, prostate and skin. Levosal Syrup kills the bacteria that causes an infection. It hinders the process of cell replication and cell division, within the cell of the bacteria, by inhibiting the synthesis of the DNA gyrase enzyme. Without this enzyme, the cell of the bacteria cannot survive or grow. Hence, this syrup behave as bactericide.

This medication fights against bacteria that are Gram-positive as well Gram-negative. It is also available in the form of tablets, eye drops or oral solutions. It can also be administered intravenously. The doctor will prescribe instructions for taking this medication according to your condition, the severity of that condition and the other medications you are taking. It is important to complete the course that the doctor prescribes, even if the symptoms disappear, or else the infection might recur. Do not double up the dosage to make up for a forgotten one, as an excess of this medication can lead to overdosing.

In some cases, patients suffering from certain other conditions should not take Levosal Syrup. If you also suffer from conditions like myasthenia gravis, heart disease, liver damage, tendonitis, kidney failure and diabetes, you should inform your doctor before beginning a prescription of this syrup. This leads to expansion and destabilization of the bacterial DNA which causes cell death.

        Corticosteroids

        You may experience pain, swelling, or inflammation in ankle, shoulder, hand, or thumb if these drugs are used together. It is more likely to happen in elderly population who have undergone a kidney or heart transplant.

        Escitalopram

        You may experience sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations if these drugs are used together. This interaction is more likely to happen if you have any heart disease called QT syndrome. You should consult your doctor to make necessary dosage adjustments or to prescribe other medicines.

        Quinidine

        You may experience sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and heart palpitations if these drugs are used together. Regular cardiac function tests are to be made if you have any heart disease (Arrhythmia) or family history of Arrhythmia.You should consult your doctor to make necessary dosage adjustments or to prescribe other medicines.

        Antidiabetic drugs

        You may experience hypoglycemic effects like dizziness, headache, nervousness, confusion, tremor and weakness if these drugs are used together. Hyperglycemic effects like increased thirst, urination and hunger are less likely to occur. Regular blood glucose checkups are to be made if you are diabetic or have any kidney disease.         Aspirin

        You may experience tremors, involuntary muscle movements, hallucinations, or seizures if these drugs are used together. You are at a higher risk to develop this interaction if you have a history of seizures or family history of seizures.         Ethinyl Estradiol

        Avoid using Levosal Syrup if you experience abdominal pain, diarrhea and joint pain. The medicine accumulates in the body due to impaired kidney function, putting you at high risk.
