About Lodoz 2.5 Tablet

Known to be a cardio-selective B1 adrenergic agent in combination with a diuretic. This medication blocks the action of a few naturally occurring chemicals in the body. Thus helping in the control of health conditions like hypertension and angina.

The drug also helps in the prevention of heart failure and myocardial infraction (MI). Patients should also mention if they suffer from any other health issues like kidney or liver problem, slow heartbeat. Apart from this, diabetes, thyroid, asthma or hardened arteries as consumption of the drug may lead to severe complications in such cases.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication blocks beta receptors sites in the heart, blood vessels, and lungs. It results in inhibition of epinephrine resulting in relaxed blood vessels, thus the pressure is lowered and blood flow to the heart is improved. Also, it inhibits a sodium-chloride symporter SLC12A3 in the distal convoluted tubule to inhibit water reabsorption in the nephron. The symporter reabsorbs sodium and creates an osmotic gradient for water to be reabsorbed, inhibition of which prevents water reabsorption.
