How does this medication work?
Loftair is composed of Indacaterol and Glycopyrrolate and is a rapid onset long acting bronchodilator. Indacaterol stimulates adrenergic beta-2 receptors in the respiratory tract smooth muscles, relaxing them. This drug stimulates adenyl cyclase enzyme which catalyzes the conversion of ATP to cyclic AMP, also causing dilation of bronchioles. Glycopyrrolate is a synthetic acetylcholinergic substance which competitively binds to muscarinic acetylcholine receptor and inhibits the acetylcholine activity in peripheral cholinergic receptors and reduces volume and free acidity of gastric secretions, also controlling excessive secretions from pharyngeal, tracheal, and bronchial regions.
