About Maxtra Syrup

Maxtra Syrup is primarily prescribed to treat common cold. This is a combination syrup that has Chlorpheniramine and Phenylephrine as active ingredients. It also relieves the associated symptoms such as runny nose, itching of the throat and nose, watery eyes, and sneezing due to upper respiratory infections.

This medicine provide temporary relief of nasal congestion and eustachian tube congestion along with the associated symptoms. Maxtra Syrupmay cause drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery while taking this medication.

It is an antihistamine along with adrenergic receptor agonists. This works by blocking the action of histamine and activating the adrenergic receptor in the body. Inform your doctor if you have breathing problems, glaucoma, heart problems, and liver disease.

Apart from this, high blood pressure, seizures, overactive thyroid, stomach problems or urination problems also. Up to 10% of patients could experience tachycardia, palpitations, and dry mouth; use vasoconstrictor with caution; prolonged use will cause significant xerostomia.

Use with caution since Maxtra Syrup contains phenylephrine, which is a sympathomimetic amine that could interact with epinephrine to cause a pressor response. Symptoms of Maxtra Syrup overdose include vomiting, hypertension, palpitations, paresthesia, ventricular extrasystoles. Treatment is supportive; in extreme cases, I.V. phentolamine may be used.
