About Metopar 5 Mg/500 Mg Tablet

Metopar tablet falls under the category of drugs known as dopamine-receptor antagonists which is used to treat migraine. This medication also increases the muscle contractions of the upper digestive tract which gives relief in heartburn and migraines cases as well.

Avoid using this medication if you have any allergies, or bleeding or blockage in your intestines or stomach, or epilepsy, seizure, kidney, liver or Parkinson’s diseases, high blood pressure, breast cancer or a history of depression. Ideally the dosage for you will be prescribed by the doctor taking into consideration your specifications.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication is an antiemetic that works by inhibiting gastric smooth muscle relaxation caused by dopamine. This improves the response of the gastrointestinal smooth muscles to cholinergic stimulation, which leads to an increase of gastric emptying into the intestines. It antagonises the dopamine D2 receptors in the medulla which prevents nausea and vomiting.
