About Moxclav 375 Tablet

As a penicillin antibiotic, this tablet treats bacterial infections. It interferes with the synthesis of cell wall in a bacteria and stops it from growing. It is used to treat infections of the lungs and airways, skin, middle ear, sinuses, and the urinary tract. It also treats conditions like tonsillitis, pneumonia, bronchitis and gonorrhoea. This tablet when used with an antibiotic clarithromycin, it treats stomach ulcers.

You should not use this tablet if you are allergic to any penicillin based antibiotic. This medicine can make birth control pills less effective so ask your doctor about using non hormonal birth control to prevent pregnancy during the treatment. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby as it may cause harm to the baby.

    • Missed Dose instructions

      The missed dose should be taken as soon possible. It is advisable to skip the missed dose if it's already time for your next scheduled dose.

    • Are there any overdose instructions?

      One should contact the doctor immediately if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms of an overdosage include convulsions, change in behaviour or a severe skin rash.

    How does this medication work?

    This tablet works via dual mechanism and includes medicines Amoxycillin and Clavulanic Acid. It is used for the treatment of bacterial infection. Amoxycillin interferes with the synthesis of the cell wall in a bacteria and stops it from growing. Clavulanic Acid works as a beta-lactamase inhibitor and it increases the activity of Amoxycillin against bacteria and decreases resistance.

        Alcohol

        Interaction with alcohol is unknown. It is advisable to consult your doctor before consumption.
      • Interaction with Lab Test

        Urine Sugar Test

        Usage of this tablet should be reported prior to perform the test. The urine sugar test should be performed with different reagents in such cases.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        Doxycycline

        Usage of this medicine with Doxycycline should be avoided and usage of other antibiotics should be reported to the doctor.

        Methotrexate

        Usage of this tablet with Methotrexate or other chemotherapy medicines should be reported to the doctor. The levels of Methotrexate in the body along with symptoms of toxicity should be closely monitored while both these medicines are taken.

        Warfarin

        Usage of this medicine with Warfarin should be reported to the doctor. The clotting time should be monitored promptly. Symptoms like increased bleeding, swelling, dizziness and weakness should be reported immediately.
      • Interaction with Disease

        Mononucleosis

        The condition should be reported to the doctor before taking this medicine so that proper substitute can be prescribed.

        Colitis

        This tablet should be discontinued if severe diarrhea occurs. Patients having a history of Colitis should be monitored closely.

        Renal Diseases

        This drug should be given after making adjustments in the dosage. The kidney function should be periodically monitored especially if the dosage is for a longer period of time. Suitable dose adjustments are to be made if a patient is on hemodialysis.
