About Moxclav Drop

This drop is composed of Amoxycillin and Clavulanic Acid. As a penicillin antibiotic, this medication treats bacterial infections.

It is used to treat lower respiratory tract infections including pneumonia and empyema, intra-abdominal infections, peritonitis, pre-operative prophylaxis, gynecological surgery, non-invasive childhood diseases and perforated appendicitis.

You should not use this drug if you are allergic to any penicillin based antibiotic. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding a baby. To make sure this medicine is safe for you, inform your doctor if you have renal impairment.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication is a Penicillin antibiotic and inhibits the transfer of a peptide group in the transpeptidation process. As a result, the bacterium is not able to build cell walls and is killed. It also works as a beta-lactamase inhibitor by binding to beta-lactamase enzyme produced by bacterial cells, which in turn inhibits its enzymatic action and prevents beta-lactam antibiotics from being metabolized by the enzyme.
