Nexpro 40 MG Injection is used in the treatment of conditions caused by excessive production of acid in the stomach. The conditions may include erosive esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Helicobactor pylori infections and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (tumours in the pancreas or in the upper part of the small intestine). Apart from that, Nexpro 40 MG Injection can also help in preventing stomach ulcer that is caused due to the consumption of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID).The medication is available as a delayed-release capsule or in the form of a liquid suspension.
Belonging to the drug group of proton pump inhibitors, Nexpro 40 MG Injection blocks the proton pump in your stomach’s cells. When this proton pump gets blocked, there will be less production of acid in your stomach.
The dosage of Nexpro 40 MG Injection is decided by your doctor based on your age, the severity of the condition, your medical history and the reaction of your body after taking the first dose. Taking this medication can lead to certain mild side effects like headache, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, flatulence and dry mouth. In case of babies, the side effects may include burping up of food and an increase in the breathing rate. However, you must consult your doctor immediately if you suffer from serious side effects like:
- Severe diarrhea with stomach pain, watery stool and fever
- Inflammation of your stomach lining
- Low magnesium levels, the symptoms of which include dizziness, seizures, tremors, muscle weakness, cramps or abnormal heart rates
