This medicine primarily acts by inhibiting the calcium pathways, i.e., voltage-dependent intracellular calcium influx pathway and receptor-administered slow calcium pathway. These pathways are followed in the membranes of vascular smooth muscles, myocardial and neuronal cells. Thus the vascular smooth muscle contraction is prevented by calcium ion transfer.
