About Nistin 100000Iu Ointment

Nistin 100000Iu Ointment is available in the form of a suspension, and is administered orally. It is used to treat candidiasis in the mouth. It is fungicidal against a wide variety of yeasts and other fungi.

There seem to be no adverse effects due to prolonged usage. There have been reports of oral irritation and sensitization. There have also been reports of nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal disturbances and bloody diarrhea. Urticaria and rashes have also been reported in certain cases. Facial swelling, tachycardia, bronchospasm and myalgia have been occasionally reported.

This medicine is not to be used for the treatment of systemic mycoses. Treatment must be discontinued if any sensitization or irritation or any allergic reaction is observed. Overdose may result in nausea and / or gastrointestinal upsets. There have been no reports of any serious or toxic effects. This medicine is contraindicated in patients who have a history of hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to Nistin 100000Iu Ointment or to any of its components.

    How does this medication work?

    This medicine works as a fungicide. It expresses its fungicidal activity by binding to ergosterol which is present in fungal cell membranes, thereby leading to the formation of pores in the membrane. Cell death takes place when potassium and other cellular ingredients from the pores.
