About Numbex Cream
Numbex Cream, a local anesthetic drug of the amino amide type, relieves pain of normal intact skin and numbs skin to pain from injections and other medical procedures. It works by blocking nerves from transmitting painful impulses to the brain. In its injectable form, it is used in dentistry. It is also often used in combination with lidocaine as a topical preparation for dermal anesthesia, for treatment of conditions like paresthesia. It is also commonly used for intravenous regional anaesthesia due to its low cardiac toxicity.
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have G6PD deficiency, a history of heart disease, heart rhythm problems, infection at or near the place of application, a blood disorder or a liver disease. It is advised to not apply this medicine on open wounds, burns, or broken or inflamed skin. Avoid its contact with the eyes, ears or mouth.
This medicine has a few side effects including burning, itching, whitening, swelling or skin rash at application site, cough, difficulty in swallowing, large, hives on the eyelids, lips, face or tongue, severe dizziness, shortness of breath, stuffy nose, tightness in the chest, troubled breathing and wheezing.
The recommended dose for adults and teenagers is 1 to 2.5 gm, applied as a thick layer to the skin area. Dosage for children is based on their body weight and must be determined by doctor.

Numbex Cream is a local anaesthetic that works by inhibiting depolarisation of the voltage gated sodium channel and stabilising the neuronal membrane. This leads to a decrease in the permeability of the membrane which reduces the influx of sodium required to conduct impulses.
