How does this medication work?
This medication is a combination medicine containing Lidocaine, Beclometasone, Clotrimazole and Chloramphenicol. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that works by stabilizing the neuronal membrane by blocking the voltage-gated sodium channels. This inhibits depolarisation of the postsynaptic nerve that prevents the transmission of pain signals. Clotrimazole has both fungistatic and fungicidal actions. It binds to phospholipids in the fungal cell membrane and alters it's permeability. Beclometasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid that specifically binds to cytoplasmic receptors. This inhibits leukocyte entry at the inflammation site, interferes in inflammatory response mediator functioning, and reduces edema and scar tissues. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic which works by reversibly binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosomes of the bacterial cell.
