Oxymetazoline
About Oxymetazoline
Oxymetazoline is used to treat any blockage of the nasal tract caused due to sinus infections, hay fever, and other allergic reactions in the upper respiratory tract like common cold. It is meant either to be administered orally or for topical application, and comes in the form of nasal drops, nasal sprays, tablets and syrups. The drug belongs to a class of medicines known as decongestants. It functions by constricting the blood vessels, resulting in the shrinking of congested and swollen nasal tissues. This leads to relief from congestion, improved breathing through the nose and better drainage of mucus. Nasal drops and nasal sprays have been found to act faster on the affected region than tablets and syrups.
