About Pefbid 400Mg Tablet

Pefbid 400Mg Tablet is used as an antibiotic that helps prevent a number of bacterial infections. It belongs to the class of fluoroquinolone antibiotics. This medicine mainly treats bacterial infection of the urinary tract lining, gastrointestinal cavity, ulceration, typhoid and infection of lymph nodes.

This medicine acts as a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against a wide array of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus, E.coli , S. pneumoniae, and Neisseria gonorrhea.

It works by inhibiting the enzymes topoisomerase II, known as DNA Gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This interrupts DNA replication and transcription in the bacterial cell, which in turn prevents growth and proliferation of bacterial cells.

This medication should not be used by:

  • people with kidney or liver problems or with allergies to any of the active ingredients
  • by women who are pregnant or lactating

While using this drug, avoid exposure to UV rays and do not use it in combination with medicines like theophylline. It should not be used by children below the age of 12 years.
