About Petril 0.25 MG Tablet

Petril 0.25 MG Tablet is used to prevent as well as treat seizures. This medicine is referred to as an antiepileptic. Also known as anti-convulsant, Clonazepam helps to control panic attacks. The medication falls under a category of drugs known as benzodiazepines and works by calming the nerves and the brain.

Alone or as an adjunct, it is used in the treatment of petit mal variant, akinetic, myoclonic seizures, petit mal (absence) seizures which are unresponsive to succimides. It is also used to treat panic disorders with or without agoraphobia.

Clonazepam works like a tranquilizer. It impedes synaptic transmission. The medicine reduces serotonin usage and is able to treat anxiety and seizures. The dosage of Clonazepam will be prescribed by the doctor depending on your condition, how your response has been to the treatment so far, and also your age. When it comes to children, age is a determining factor.

To avoid any kind of complications of side effects in the first place, a lower dosage is suggested for adults. The side effects of this medication vary from one patient to another and it is suggested that you consult with a neurologist before deciding to use this medication.

        Consumption of alcohol should be avoided while you are taking this medicine. Activities which require high mental alertness should be avoided and symptoms like dizziness, difficulty in breathing should be reported to the doctor immediately.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        The drug should not be used in combination with Atenolol and Codeine. Carbamazepine, rifampin, rifabutin may enhance the metabolism of clonazepam and decrease its therapeutic effect; consider using an alternative sedative/hypnotic agent.

        Cimetidine, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, clozapine, CNS depressants, diltiazem, disulfiram, digoxin, erythromycin, ethanol, fluconazole, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, grapefruit juice, isoniazid, itraconazole, ketoconazole, labetalol, levodopa, loxapine, metoprolol, metronidazole, miconazole, nefazodone, omeprazole, phenytoin, rifabutin, rifampin, troleandomycin, verapamil may increase the serum level and/or toxicity of clonazepam; monitor for altered benzodiazepine response.
