About Phenolphthalein

Phenolphthalein is used to treat incomplete and infrequent bowel movement. In such cases, it is used to empty the bowels. Hence, it is said to be a laxative. Thus prescribed to treat constipation.

This medicine is also used in the evaluation of renal blood flow to aid in the determination of renal function. Thus, Phenolphthalein is employed as a diagnostic agent.
