Potassium Clavulanate

Prescription vs OTC : Prescription by Doctor required

About Potassium Clavulanate

Potassium Clavulanate helps in the treatment of bacterial infections. It works by blocking an enzyme (beta-lactamase) produced by bacteria to inactivate antibiotics. This helps in reducing resistance and enhances the activity of antibiotics against bacteria.

Potassium Clavulanate is usually prescribed in combination with either amoxycillin or ticarcillin, thus prevents the development of resistance against the drug and also enhances the therapeutic antibacterial effect of the co-administered drug.

Women who are pregnant or planning to get conceived must consult a doctor before consuming this drug. It is advised to take the dose as prescribed by the doctor.
