About Prazopress XL 2.5mg Tablet

Prazopress tablet is used with a combination of other medicines to prevent the risk of heart failures, high blood pressure that causes tightness of chest and breathing difficulties or chest pain. The drug usually stays in the patient’s body for a day.

The drug is contraindicated in patients who have suffered or are suffering from orthostatic hypotension (blood pressure drop upon standing), cataract surgery, intraoperative floppy iris syndrome and allergy to quinazoline analogues. This tablet has been known to cause complications on interacting with certain drugs like aldesleukin, amiloride, amiodarone, aspirin, etc. Missed dose should be taken as soon as possible. It is recommended to skip your missed dose, if it is the time for your next scheduled dose. In case of overdose, you must take medical help immediately.

    This medication works by blocking the postsynaptic alpha(1)-adrenoceptors present on vascular smooth muscle. Therefore, the vasoconstriction of circulating and locally generated catecholamines is stopped. As a result, peripheral vasodilation takes place.
