About Prazopress XL 5mg Tablet

Prazopress tablet is used with a combination of other medicines to prevent the risk of heart failures, high blood pressure that causes tightness of chest and breathing difficulties, chest pain. This medication belongs to the alpha blocker class of medicines and is as an alpha adrenergic receptor antagonist that decreases the secretion of epinephrine and norepinephrine. This helps facilitating in vasodilation of blood vessels to relieve pain and stimulate proper blood circulation in the body.

The drug should not be used by patients who have suffered from:

  • Orthostatic hypotension (blood pressure drop upon standing)
  • Cataract surgery
  • Intraoperative floppy iris syndrome
  • Allergy to quinazoline analogues.

Do not skip your dose. If you miss a dose, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose. Overdose of this tablet may cause problems.

    It works by blocking the postsynaptic alpha(1)-adrenoceptors present on vascular smooth muscle. Therefore, the vasoconstriction of circulating and locally generated catecholamines is stopped. As a result, peripheral vasodilation takes place.
