How does this medication work?
This medication is a combination of Pregabalin and Nortriptyline, thus work through a dual mechanism of action. Primarily, it behaves as a GABA analogue and binds to the voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system. This causes a reduced release of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, substance P thus slowing down nerve signals. Secondarily, it blocks the serotonin reuptake at the neuronal membrane. Also, it inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and raises its concentration in the synaptic cleft.
