About Procaine

Procaine is used to treat local anesthesia. You are advised to take precautions while on this drug as it may cause an allergic reaction. Patients with heart problems are not advised to consume this drug.

Procaine produces spinal anaesthesia and epidural and peripheral nerve block by injection and infiltration methods. Consumption of this drug must be avoided along with the anti-hypertensive drugs. Use with caution if you are taking vasoconstrictor drugs or anti-depressants.

If you are suffering from liver problems, bleeding or clotting problems or any heart disease, neuromuscular disorders, or other such medical conditions, then immediately tell your doctor.

Termination of anaesthesia by pneumatic tourniquet inflation should be attempted when the agent is administered by infiltration or regional injection. Seizures commonly respond to diazepam, while hypotension responds to I.V. fluids and Trendelenburg positioning.

Dose of Procaine varies with the procedure, desired depth, and duration of anaesthesia, desired muscle relaxation, vascularity of tissues, physical condition, and age of the patient.
