Defcort 6 MG Tablet used for

I have a 3.5 mm right side mid calyx kidney stone and I am suffering from right side pain. The urologist yesterday prescribed me stone 1b6 syrup, nafodil 50 tablet (naftopidil 50) and deflazacort 6 mg tablet. I just found out that deflazacort 6 mg is a steroid and it affects the immunity. I am worried my immunity might get decreased and I have not taken covid vaccine till now. Also I read steroids should not be taken by a person who is planning to take a vaccine. So kindly please advise what to do? Shall I take deflazacort 6 mg or not?

My mother, 72, had stopped taking defcort 6 mg (taking on alternate days for 2 years due to ild) as she was not having solid food due to vomiting and loose motions 15 days ago. Should defcort 6 mg medicine be started again now?

It's in your best interest if you consult a pulmonologist (dm pulmonary medicine or md chest and tb) who will assess her again and ascertain the need to restart deflazacort. Although you should not discontinue this medicine abuptly but now when you have already done you should not restart it by yourself. I wish her good health!

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, defcort is not the answer for your copd. U need to he put on different kind of inhalers and few other medications to keep your copd under control. Hrct thorax needs to be done to rule out any fibrosis.

Mr. lybrate-user, daily consumption of defcort is injurious to health. It has not of side effects. More over copd is less likely to respond to steroids. U need to be started on inhalers.

Hi. I have ringing sound in my left ear from the past one month. Also the night that my tinnitus started the left side of my nose was also blocked. I took steam for a couple of days. Then I visited an ent and was told I have tinnitus. I was also told to do a pta test and impedance test. The impedance test results showed no problems, but in pta test it was discovered that I have high frequency hearing loss in my left ear. I have never been exposed to such loud music and I use ear phones and head phones also like a normal 30 year old. I have been prescribed defcort and nootropil 800. It has almost been 25 days since I have taken these medicines and I have had very little improvement. The ringing sound is bearable when I sit in my room alone with no sound. But it irritates me when am exposed to a slightly higher pitched noise like horns or people shouting. Please suggest what should I do next as I am worried.

You have high frequency hearing loss as per the audiometry report but you did not mention the type of hearing loss, like conductive or sensory-neural, it will be better if you attach the pta report, your doctor has given good drugs, get the hba1c and fasting blood sugar done. As per history the tinnitus increases with the exposure of loud sound, it could be recruitment also which happens when there is some problem with the cochlea. Detailed investigation is necessary.

Hello lybrate-user I understand that your mother is suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and has been put on drug treatment. However you have not mentioned how long has she been taking treatment because the effect of medicines comes on at an average of 6 weeks of regular treatment. If she has been taking the above mentioned medicines since jan 2020 regularly then she needs an urgent review for the drugs need to be changed or dose adjusted as per the case. And if the treatment has been started recently then I would say give it some more time.
