Your medications are correct. Apply ice to the joints. Give rest. Increase water intake. Along with low purine diet. Check your uric acid levels again after 15 days. If they have decreased, you are on correct path. Continue same. You will be normal in a month.

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details mentioned. The uric acid level given is quite high. It needs to be brought closer 6 mg or lower /100 ml. Therefore, he may have to take febustat for quite a long time which could be 6 months plus. It is essential to check the uric acid level at least once in 3 months and based on that one can decide on continuation of the tablets. Fresh water fish seem to have less urea generating property than the sea fish. It is good to know that he has maintained a very good food habit and stopped taking alcohol. Because alcohol is not helpful in reducing uric acid levels. Thanks.

*this is not individual medical advice. Please consult your doctor*the high triglycerides and uric acid are due to insulin resistance. The solution without allopathic medicine which has worked for my patients is to reduce carbohydrates and get protein to 0.8 gram per kg reference body weight per day. Vegetarians are most often eating a protein deficient diet and still their uric acid is high. So why blame dietary protein for uric acid? We have seen every patients uric acid come down by achieving protein targets. Most vegetarian people are far far away from a high protein intake. At least get your daily requirements.

Mr. lybrate-user upadhyaya, thanks for the query.
The drug that you are taking will definitely help in reducing the uric acid level. You will have to continue taking the same for some more months. Plus there is a need to look your diet and overall lifestyle. 1) with a bmi of 27.4 kg/sq meter (normal < 23 kg/sq meter) ypu are already quite over weight. Your ideal body weight should be about 65 kg, hence, reducing the weight is an important aspect, that will also help in bringing down uric acid level.
2) avoid taking high protein diet. Particularly dry been, green peas, mushrooms and cauliflower. 3) avoid eating red meat, mutton in general, organ meat, fishes, scallops, shell fish & pork if you are taking non-vegetarian diet.
4) avoid sugary aerated drinks like colas & packaged fruit juices, corn syrup (fructose syrup) containing food products. 5) avoid alcohol & loose weight.
Therefore, along with the drug taken for reduction of uric acid, please follow a modified lifestyle. That will help in uric acid level reduction thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
Uric acid mentioned (12.8 mg/100 ml) is definitely quite high. Please let me know what are the problems you have associated with this situation. That is do you have gouty arthritis?
Using Febstat is one of the major treatment for reducing uric acid. Plus avoiding foods containing high purines like a number of fish varieties, red meat particularly organ meat like liver, kidney etc.
So you will have to use febustat on and of. There is no complete cure for this condition. I know I am not giving a solution to your query. Thanks.
There is no time restriction on usage of febuxostat. It has to be taken till your uric acid level drops and then as maintainence needs to be continued at lower dose.
