REGESTRONE
- Regestrone is an oral contraceptive pill to prevent pregnancy. It comes in the form of a tablet. Side-effects may include weight gain, weakness, trouble in sleeping, rash, nervousness, nausea, headache, fever, dizziness spotting and abdominal pain.
Uses
- Norethisterone is human-made progesterone which is a natural female sex hormone.
Side Effects
- Bloating, irregular periods, feeling sick, spotting, headache, fluid retention, abnormal heavy bleeding
Expert Advice
- If you are allergic to Norethisterone or suspect that you may be pregnant or you have missed any of your pills from the strip and do not bleed within 45 days since your last periods, it is advised to immediately stop the intake of Norethisterone Oral Contraceptive pill and take a pregnancy test or consult your doctor. If you miss a pill, just take one from the spare strip and then take all the other pills from the current strip. If you feel sick or have bad Diarrhea or vomiting within 3 hour of consumption of the pill, your body may lack its usual dose of hormones from the pill; just take one from the spare strip and carry on taking your pills as normal if possible, so you won’t require use of any extra contraception. If you feel sick for more than 3 hours after consumption of the pill, carry on with your pills as usual and use the extra contraception for 2 days after you get better. In case you are planning a baby, it’s suggested to use some other method of contraception after stopping your pills till you have regular periods. However, it’s safe for you and your baby if you straight away get pregnant.
How it works?
- For some of the female cancers like breast caner, hight-strength tablets are used.

You can take it but don't make it a habit. To consult a doctor and then take medicines is the better way. Once in a while its okay. If your periods gets delayed everytime, then you have to take 1mnth course of contraceptive pills that will regularise your periods. Otherwise get your ultrasonography done.

For assesing prolactin problem, optical perimetry and a ct scan of brain to see the hypothalamus is necessary. It can be treated. Progesterone/regesterone is generally not given for 15 days. 21 days course would give a withdrawl bleed after 25-28 days just like normal periods. Your problem can be handled by oral contraceptive pills.
