This is a combination medication which has Atorvastatin and Clopidogrel as active ingredients. It belongs to a group of drugs known as “statins”. It reduces the level of low-density lipoprotein or “bad cholesterol” in the body. Also, it helps in curing various conditions like narrowing of arteries that arises due to high cholesterol levels in the body.

It can also reduce the amount of liver fat in the body. This drug is also used to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack or coronary heart diseases. It should be kept away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep the drug away from the reach of the children and pets.

This medication increases the number of hepatic LDL receptors on the cell surface, enhancing uptake and catabolism of LDL and it inhibits the hepatic synthesis of VLDL, thereby reducing the total number of VLDL and LDL particles. Clopidogrel is a prodrug with anticoagulatory properties that are broken down by CYP450 enzymes to its active metabolite that prevents adenosine diphosphate (ADP) from binding to its platelet P2Y12 receptor. This inhibits the ADP-mediated activation of the glycoprotein GPIIb/IIIa complex, which in turn inhibits coagulation.
