Risperdal Consta 25 MG Injection belongs to the class of antipsychotic drugs, used for curing psychotic disorders. This medication can treat symptoms of bipolar disorder like schizophrenia and manic depression. It also treats irritability symptoms in children who suffers from autism. Risperdal Consta 25 MG Injection helps in reducing the symptoms associated with psychotic disorders by restoring the balance of neurotransmitters in the brain. This medication is available in the form of tablets, disintegrating tablets or a solution. It is generally taken in combination with other medications during your treatment.

This medication can be taken with or without food. If you are taking the medication in tablet form, let it dissolve in your mouth rather than chewing it. You can also consume it with water, to swallow the dissolved tablet. If you are taking the medication in the liquid form, the correct amount should be measured.

The dose of Risperdal Consta 25 MG Injection will be decided by your doctor and you must follow his/her instructions regarding the dosage. You can skip a missed dose if you are near your next dose. Avoid taking two doses simultaneously because overdose of Risperdal Consta 25 MG Injection can cause rapid heart rate, severe drowsiness and restless movements of the muscles of the face.

Some of the side effects of this medication are headache, drooling, drowsiness, nausea, and lightheadedness. These symptoms usually go away in a few days, however, a consultation with your doctor is advised.

The consumption of alcohol should be avoided if you are taking this medication. Be very careful while doing activities that require sudden alertness like driving. The medication is known to cause dizziness so you should get up slowly if you are sitting or lying down to avoid any accidental fall.
