How does this medication work?
This medicine acts as a long-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist. It works by stimulating the intracellular enzyme called adenylyl cyclase, which initiates the process of transformation of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to cyclic 3’,5’-adenosine monophosphate (AMP). This relaxes bronchial smooth muscle and inhibits the release of immediate hypersensitivity mediators from mast cells.
