About Silofast D 8 Combipack

This is a combination medication which has Silodosin and Dutasteride as active ingredients. It falls under a category of drugs known as alpha-blockers. This medication is used to treat enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH). It functions by relaxing the prostate and bladder muscles allowing greater urine flow.

This medication is primarily used by men. It reduces the signs and symptoms of BPH. The dosage for this medication should be determined by the doctor.

      Taking this medication with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience a headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.

      This medication is probably safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

    • Are there any breast-feeding warnings?

      Unknown. Human and animal studies are not available. Please consult your doctor.

    • Is it safe to drive while on this medicine?

      It may cause dizziness. Exercise caution if you have to drive or operate a machinery.

    • Does this affect kidney function?

      No dose adjustment is needed for patients with the mild renal disease, and dose adjustment is required in moderate renal disease.Not advisable in patients with the severe renal disease.

    • Does this affect liver function?

      No dose adjustment is needed for patients with the mild to moderate liver disease.Not advisable in patients with the severe liver disease.

      If you miss a dose of this medication, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication works as an antagonist of the alpha-1 adrenoreceptor selective for the prostrate. It binds to and blocks these receptors which lower intraurethral pressure, relaxes smooth muscles and improves urine flow. Dutasteride is primarily used as a form of treatment for enlarged prostate in males and also has secondary functionalities. The drug restricts the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone. DHT is responsible for the swelling of the prostate.
