About Sucrafil O Gel

Sucrafil O Gel acts as ‘ulcer protectants’ which helps to treat peptic ulcers and gastrointestinal ulcers effectively. Besides these, it is also important to be used in conditions like indigestion, heartburn, gastritis and hyperacidity caused due to an excessive acid formation in the stomach.

Sucrafil O Gel is a combination medicine consisting of Sucralfate and Oxetacaine. Sucralfate works as a gastrointestinal protectant which covers the ulcer with a protective barrier or coat. Due to this protective covering, the mucosal lining of the stomach is not further irritated by the actions of digestive enzymes, bile salts and gastric acids.

This facilitates a better healing of the ulcers. Oxetacaine acts as a local anesthetic agent, providing numb effects to the painful ulcers, thereby providing relief from such discomforting conditions.

Sucrafil O Gel helps in treating ulcers that develop in the intestine. It creates a coating around the ulcers. This coating protects the ulcers from getting injured, thus they have time to heal effectively.

Doctors prescribe the drug on the basis of the patient's medical condition and how he responds to the treatment. This drug has to be taken on an empty stomach or about an hour before you eat a meal.

Some minor side effects of the suspension are nausea, gas, dryness of the mouth, constipation and stomach upset. Major side effects include severe stomach pain, vomiting and problems with swallowing. An allergic reaction to the suspension is very rare, but if it does occur, its symptoms include swelling, rashes, problems with breathing and dizziness.

Inform your health care provider about your medical history, with full details about any current health issues. Provide him/her with a list of medications that you are currently taking as well. Along with the drug, the doctor may also advise certain lifestyle changes, which include dietary alterations & healthy exercise to reduce stress.

Successful therapy with Sucrafil O Gel should not be expected to alter the post healing frequency of recurrence or the severity of duodenal ulceration. use with caution in patients with chronic renal failure who have impaired excretion of absorbed aluminum.

Because of the potential for sucralfate to alter the absorption of some drugs, separate administration (take other medication 2 hours before sucralfate) should be considered when alterations in bioavailability are believed to be critical.

Take recommended dose before meals or on an empty stomach. Take any other medications at least 2 hours before taking Sucrafil O Gel. Do not take antacids within 30 minutes of taking sucralfate.
