About Sysfol 5 MG Tablet

Sysfol 5 MG Tablet is the synthetic version of Folate, which is essential for our body. In case the body cannot produce adequate levels, this medicine is used to make up for the remaining amount. It works by producing purine and pyrimidine, both of which help to manufacture blood and its essential elements.

This medicine has other uses apart from creating requisite vitamins in our body. It helps in fighting diseases like liver ailment, anaemia and helps patients of dialysis and alcohol addiction.

This medicine, contrary to most others, is very safe for pregnant women and those who plan to get pregnant. They can start consuming it right from the time they plan to conceive. Consumption of this medicine will significantly lower any chances of birth defects.

Before you begin taking this medicine, obtain a prescription from your doctor, and disclose your full medical history. Tell them if you are planning to conceive.

Also tell them if you have kidney disease, haemolytic and/or pernicious anaemia, any kind of infection, or are addicted to alcohol consumption. They will then adjust your dosage accordingly.

      • Interaction with Alcohol

        This medicine effects will not be evident with the use of alcohol. Alcohol negatively affects the body’s vitamin B absorption abilities, rendering this medicine ineffective. Thus, you should abstain from alcohol when consuming this medicine.
      • Interaction with Lab Test

        False low serum concentrations may occur with the Lactobacillus casei assay method in patients on anti-infectives (eg, tetracycline).
      • Interaction with Medicine

        In folate-deficient patients, folic acid therapy may increase phenytoin metabolism. Phenytoin, primidone, para-aminosalicylic acid, and sulfasalazine may decrease serum folate concentrations and cause deficiency. Oral contraceptives may also impair folate metabolism producing depletion, but the effect is unlikely to cause anemia or megaloblastic changes. Concurrent administration of chloramphenicol and folic acid may result in antagonism of the hematopoietic response to folic acid; dihydrofolate reductase inhibitors (eg, methotrexate, trimethoprim) may interfere with folic acid utilization.

        This medication is not prescribed for patients undergoing haemodialysis. Also, it is not prescribed in cases of pre-existing allergy to it or its components in the patient.

        This medication is not yet known to interact with any food variety.
