About Tantum Gel
Tantum Gel, is used to treat inflammation and pain arising from mouth sores and a sore throat as a result of radiotherapy. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent and a topical analgesic used to reduce pain and swelling. It is usually used to relieve minor to moderate aches, especially in the mouth and throat area.
If you are allergic or hypersensitive to any of its ingredients, to any other analgesic, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, let your doctor know. Tantum Gel is not to be used if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless directed by your doctor. All medical history must be made know to the doctor.
The medicine is in the form of a mouth rinse intended to be used y gargling. If while gargling it causes some irritation or burning, dilute it with equal parts water. In the case of mouth sores, keep the medicine in contact with it for at least half a minute before throwing it.
Tantum Gel may cause some burning and stinging, redness, itching, dry mouth and cough. If you experience vomiting and diarrhea, alert your doctor.

How does this medication work?
This medication belongs to the class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anaesthetic drugs whose principal mode of action is specific inhibition of inflammatory cytokines. It weakly inhibits prostaglandin synthesis and also inhibits the inflammatory mediators from releasing. It also possesses a delicate antibacterial activity, which is non-specific in nature.
