About Teicoplanin
Teicoplanin is an antibiotic that is used for the treatment of bacterial infections which sometimes occurs in the blood or joint or bone. This medication is given when other antibiotics fail to fully eliminate the bacteria or in cases when other patients are allergic to other antibiotics.
Ensure to notify your doctor if you face any major or minor allergic reaction as soon as possible. Common side effects include skin rash, dizziness, headache, nausea, pain and stiffness, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, swelling of facial feature and body parts, hives and problems with hearing and maintaining balance.
Do not use Teicoplanin if you suffer from hypersensitivity. Take precautionary measures by informing your doctor if: you have renal insufficiency, you have LFT, you are taking any prescription or non-prescription drugs, you are allergic to any or medicine or substance, you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant or are nursing a baby.
The usual dose in adults for minor infections is 6 mg on the first day followed by 3 mg per day given via IV infusion or IM or IV bolus. Ideally the dosage should be prescribed by the doctor based on your age, medical history and current condition.

How does this medication work?
Teicoplanin causes inhibition of peptidoglycan polymerization. This result in the inhibition of the cell wall of bacteria causing cell death and wall synthesis.
