About Tizanidine
Tizanidine is a muscle relaxant, that is used for treatment of muscle spasms, cramping, and tightness caused by multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, ALS, spastic diplegia, back pain and other medical problems. Tizanidine comes as tablets that can be taken with or without food and as capsules. This drug works by inhibiting nerve impulses or pain sensations to the brain.
Do not use Tizanidine if you are also taking any of the following medicines - antidepressant fluvoxamine or antibiotic ciprofloxacin. Also avoid taking this medicine in case you have a history of liver disease, kidney disease or low blood pressure problem.
Do not drive, use any machine or do any other such physical activity that requires you to be highly alert, since this medicine can cause drowsiness.
Some common side effects seen in people using this medicine include dizziness, light headedness, constipation, weakness, dry mouth, drowsiness and sometimes even sore throat and constipation. Tizanidine can also cause some serious adverse reactions like Chest pain, fever, pain or burning while urinating, Blurred vision, kidney stones, shortness of breath and irregular heartbeat.
