About Tripride - 2 Tablet Sr

This tablet is a drug that is used in treating patients suffering from type 2 Diabetes, who can't control blood sugar levels through diet and exercise alone. Hence this drug is used to enhance the positive effects of diet and exercise with respect to blood sugar. It is also used in combination with other antidiabetic medicines. It is a type of sulfonylurea antidiabetic medicine, that helps the pancreas in releasing insulin thus helping reduce the blood sugar level. It belongs to a class of drugs known as sulfonylureas.

    How does this medication work?

    This tablet is a combination of three medicine which includes Glimepiride, Metformin, and Pioglitazone. It is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride lowers blood glucose by stimulating the release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells. Metformin decreases glucose production in the liver, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing bodies glucose uptake and utilization. Pioglitazone activates peroxisome proliferator activator receptor causing an increase in the production of components that break down lipids and glucose in the body. It also increases insulin response without effecting its secretion.

        Clarithromycin

        Atazanavir

        Liver Disease

        This tablet should be given with extreme caution if you have active liver disease. The dosage has to be suitably adjusted and clinical monitoring of liver function is necessary. The medicine should be discontinued if the liver function is abnormal even after reducing the dosage.

        Rhabdomyolysis

        Any incidence of a muscle disorder either active or historic should be reported to the doctor. The dosage needs to be very carefully adjusted in such cases. Clinical monitoring may be required in some cases. Any symptoms like muscle pain, weakness should be reported especially if it is accompanied by fever and unease.

        Cognitive Impairment

        This medicine should be given with caution if you have any symptoms of memory loss, forgetfulness or confusion. The effects tend to go away once the use of statin is discontinued.
