About Tyfusin 500Mg Tablet

Tyfusin 500Mg Tablet is an alcohol-abuse deterrent. It’s used to treat alcoholism along with counseling therapies. It prevents the unpleasant side effects that come with alcohol consumption by blocking the breakdown of alcohol.

On using this medication you may experience side effects such as headache, bad taste in mouth, drowsiness, darkening of urine, seizures, weakness, fatigue, reduced appetite, mental or mood problems, swelling and skin rash. If you face any of allergic reactions or any adverse reaction contact your health care provider right away.

Before using this medication notify your doctor if: you are allergic to any of the ingredients contained within Tyfusin 500Mg Tablet, you are alcoholic, you have severe heart problems/ brain damage/ lung diseases, you have any other allergies, you have diabetes/ seizures/ underactive thyroid/ depression, you are taking any prescription or non-prescription drugs, you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant or are nursing a baby.

The dosage should be prescribed by the doctor based on your overall medical history and current condition. The usual dose in adults for treating alcohol dependence is 500 mg, taken orally once daily for 1-2 weeks. The maintained dose is 250 mg taken once daily.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication acts as an alcohol-abuse inhibitor. It interferes with the way your body metabolizes alcohol. The alcohol is metabolized by aldehyde dehydrogenase enzyme and get break down into acetaldehyde compounds. It also hinders the proper functioning of the enzyme. As a result, acetaldehyde is not converted to acetic acid and gets accumulated in the bloodstream instead.
