About Ulinastatin
Ulinastatin is an inhibitor of trypsin. Trypsin is an enzyme, the function of which is to breakdown protein molecules and to assist in the digestive process. It may be isolated from human urine or can be developed artificially and synthetically. Having its use in treatment of diseases like acute or chronic pancreatitis, burns, sepsis, toxic epidermal necrolysis; it works by inactivating serine proteases. It also reduces inflammations as a result of sepsis, trauma or surgery. In severe sepsis the symptoms are cardiovascular organ dysfunction, acute respiratory distress syndrome etc. Causes are trauma, burn or pneumonia. In such condition Ulinastatin can be an effective medication being given intravenously.
This drug is not advised for women who are lactating or patients who are hyper sensitive to it. In patients with history of allergy Ulinastatin should be very cautiously administered.
The side effects of this medicine may include rashes and infections at the site of injection. There can be serious allergic reactions in some patients which must be informed to the concerned medical authorities without any delay. Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, stomach pain, diarrhea are some other symptoms which may show up as side effects to this medicine called Ulinastatin.
