How does this medication work?
This medication is used during organophosphate poisoning. Organophosphates like sarin block the activity of acetylcholinesterase enzyme by binding to the hydroxy component of the active site. It binds to the remaining half and removes the phosphate from the remnants of serine, thereby allowing re-activation of the enzyme.
