Urimax D Tablet Mr

Urimax D Tablet Mr is a combination of Tamsulosin and Dutasteride. It primarily works as an alpha-blocker to relax inflamed muscles of the bladder and prostate. The medicine reduces the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) including difficulty in urination, increased urge to urinate, and a frail urine stream.

Urimax D Tablet Mr is prescribed for oral use. The dosage varies with the patient’s medical history as well as the response to the treatment. The medicine is usually administered daily, thirty minutes after a meal.

Urimax D Tablet Mr is strictly used by men and must be at all cost avoided by women and children. The doctor must review all existing medications before prescribing the use of this medication.

Otherwise, drug interactions with medicines like prazosin, silodosin, etc may result in unwanted side effects. Urimax D Tablet Mr is not prescribed to patients suffering from liver diseases, kidney disease, low blood pressure or a history of prostate cancer.

Urimax D Tablet MR is an antagonist to alpha-1A as well as alpha-1B-adrenoceptors within prostatic urethra, bladder neck, prostate and prostatic capsule. Alpha1-adrenoceptors subtypes such as alpha-1A, alpha-1B and alpha-1D. The drug also restricts the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone. DHT is responsible for the swelling of the prostate.

• Interaction with Alcohol

  This medicine interacts with alcohol to lower blood pressure that causes dizziness.

• Interaction with Medicine

  • Alpha-adrenergic blockers; should not be used in combination with other alpha-adrenergic blocking agents.
  • Warfarin: Use caution with concomitant administration of warfarin and tamsulosin.
  • Cimetidine resulted in a significant decrease (26%) in the clearance of tamsulosin which resulted in a moderate increase in tamsulosin AUC (44%); therefore, use with caution when used in combination with cimetidine (especially doses >0.4 mg).
  • No dosage adjustments necessary if administered with atenolol, enalapril, or Procardia XL®.

• Interaction with Disease

  Not intended for use as an antihypertensive drug. May cause orthostasis, syncope or dizziness. Patients should avoid situations where injury may occur as a result of syncope. Rule out prostatic carcinoma before beginning therapy with tamsulosin. Anticipate a similar effect if therapy is interrupted for a few days, if dosage is rapidly increased, or if another antihypertensive drug is introduced.

  The time to maximum concentration (Tmax) is reached by 4-5 hours under fasting conditions and by 6-7 hours when administered with food. Taking it under fasted conditions results in a 30% increase in bioavailability and 40% to 70% increase in peak concentrations (Cmax) compared to fed conditions.
