About Veltam-F Tablet

Veltam-F Tablet is indiacted to be useful in the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Results of therapy may take several months. Take as directed, with fluids, 30 minutes before or 2 hours after meals.

Veltam-F Tablet, is a combination medicine containing Tamsulosin and Finasteride, treats urinary problems in patients having an enlarged prostate gland. It also lowers the risk of needing surgery to treat this condition. It works by reducing the amount of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) hormone in the body. This makes the prostate gland smaller, which relieves urinary problems.

Avoid use this medicine entirely if you have allergies or if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you have a blockage in the urinary tract, problems of the bladder, prostate cancer, a bladder infection, severe trouble urinating, a history of increased serum prostate-specific antigen levels or liver problems.

This medicine may have side effects that include decreased sexual desire or ability, severe allergic reactions, breast enlargement, depression, lumps, pain, or tenderness, nipple discharge and testicular pain. You may experience decreased libido or impotence during therapy. Report any increase in urinary volume or voiding patterns occurs.

It is administered orally, with or without food, usually once a day, or as prescribed by your doctor. Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. It may take 6-12 months to notice a significant change in the condition.

      Consumption with alcohol can drop the blood pressure which will bring dizziness and can make you unconscious thus it will become dangerous to walk or travel.

      This medicine should be avoided by pregnant women unless suggested by the doctor. The effect of this medicine on fetus is not clearly established and hence, doctor consultation is recommended before consumption.

      Unknown. Human and animal studies are not available. Please consult your doctor.

    • Is it safe to drive while on this medicine?

      It may cause dizziness. Exercise caution if you have to drive or operate a machinery.

    • Does this affect kidney function?

      No dose adjustment is needed for patients with the mild to moderate renal disease. Not advisable in patients with the severe renal disease.

    • Does this affect liver function?

      Caution must be taken while using this medicine in patients with liver disease. Adjustment of dose is required. Kindly consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    How does this medication work?

    This is an antagonist to alpha-1A as well as alpha-1B-adrenoceptors within the prostatic urethra, bladder neck, prostate, and prostatic capsule. Alpha1-adrenoceptors subtypes such as alpha-1A, alpha-1B, and alpha-1D. It also acts as an anti-androgen thereby lowering the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in certain body parts like hair follicles and prostate gland.

      What are the interactions of Veltam-F Tablet ?

      Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.

      • Interaction with Medicine

        • Alpha-adrenergic blockers should not be used in combination with other alpha-adrenergic blocking agents.
        • Warfarin: Use caution with concomitant administration of warfarin and Veltam-F Tablet.
        • Cimetidine resulted in a significant decrease (26%) in the clearance of Veltam-F Tablet which resulted in a moderate increase in Veltam-F Tablet AUC (44%); therefore, use with caution when used in combination with cimetidine (especially doses >0.4 mg).
        • No dosage adjustments necessary if administered with atenolol, enalapril, or Procardia XL®.
      • Interaction with Disease

        A minimum of 6 months of treatment may be necessary to determine whether an individual will respond to Veltam-F Tablet. Use with caution in those patients with liver function abnormalities. Carefully monitor patients with a large residual urinary volume or severely diminished urinary flow for obstructive uropathy. These patients may not be candidates for Finasteride therapy.
      • Interaction with Food

        Administration with food may delay the rate and reduce the extent of oral absorption.
