About Wepox 1000 IU Injection

Wepox 1000 IU Injection is a man-made synthetic erythropoietin that helps in the production of red blood cells in the body. It is produced in a cell culture by use of recombinant DNA technology. It increases the count of red blood cells in the body and is therefore a cure for anemia with chronic kidney failure, anaemia caused by chemotherapy for cancer and anaemia in certain HIV patients caused by taking zidovudine. People with high risk of blood loss due to surgeries take this medicine to reduce their need for blood transfusion. Wepox 1000 IU Injection produces red blood cells by causing stimulation of the bone marrow.

Wepox 1000 IU Injection should not be taken if :

  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients in Wepox 1000 IU Injection.
  • You have very high blood pressure.
  • You have developed pure red cell aplasia after receiving the first dose of Wepox 1000 IU Injection or other erythropoietin medicines.

Wepox 1000 IU Injection has a few side effects but most people experience no or minor effects. Side effects may include cough, headache, joint or bone pain, mild muscle pain, muscle spasm, pain and redness in injection site, nausea, vomiting and weight loss. In case of sever effects, seeking medical attention immediately is advised.

Ensure your doctor is informed about your other medications. Inform him if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you are on hemodialysis, if you have had or are scheduled to have a surgery recently. Consumption of Wepox 1000 IU Injection should be exactly like prescribed by the doctor and the dosage should not increase more than what is recommended.     • Anemia Due To Use Of Medicines

      Wepox 1000 IU Injection is used to treat anemia associated with the use of Zidovudine to treat HIV infection.

    • Anemia Associated With Surgery

      Wepox 1000 IU Injection is also used before and after certain surgeries where chances of significant blood loss is high. It reduces the dependency on blood transfusion process.

      This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a history of allergy to epoetin alfa or albumin or any other ingredient present in the dosage form.

      This medicine is not recommended for use to treat anemia in cancer patients who are are not receiving any chemotherapy medication.

    • High Blood Pressure

      This medicine is not recommended for use in patients who have high blood pressure and are not taking any medicine to control it.

    • Pure Red Cell Aplasia

      This medicine is not recommended for use if the patient has had a history of pure red cell aplasia after using this medicine or other medicines belonging to the Eryhtropoietin class of drugs.

    • Use of multi-dose vials

      Use of multi-dose vials of this medicine is not recommended for children or pregnant women. The risk of severe adverse effects are increasingly high in such cases.
