About Zosta 40 MG Tablet

Zosta 40 MG Tablet is present in a cluster of drugs known as ‘statins’. It helps in reducing levels of triglycerides and LDL. also referred to as ‘bad cholesterol’ in the blood and increasing the concentration of HDL (High Density lipoprotein, also called ‘good cholesterol’).

Other complications of a heart attack, stroke and associated risk factors can be mitigated in people who suffer from diabetes or other coronary disorders. This drug can be used in case of adults as well as children (who should at least be 10 years old).

Keep in mind that consuming grape juice or the fruit as a whole prior to or right after taking this drug can cause dangerous complications. Your doctor might have to alter the entire treatment schedule if you have been taking antibiotics, medications for Hepatitis C, heart diseases, HIV/AIDS or any other antifungal drugs.

    This medicine is a lipid-lowering oral medicine that is administered to reduce the risks of heart disorders. It is an inactive form of lactone, which hydrolyzes after its ingestion. It inhibits the HMG coenzyme that is responsible for the production of cholesterol.

      • Interaction with Alcohol

        Alcohol

        Interaction with alcohol is unknown. It is advisable to consult your doctor before consumption.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        Carbamazepine

        The desired effect of it may not be obtained if taken with carbamazepine. Inform the doctor if you are receiving these medicines. Dose adjustments or an alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.

        Ciprofloxacin

        The concentration of it may increase if taken with ciprofloxacin which may cause a rare but serious condition called rhabdomyolysis. Any symptoms like fever or dark colored urine, muscle pain, tenderness should be reported to the doctor. Dose adjustments or an alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.

        Cyclosporine

        You may have muscle pain, tenderness, and dark colored urine if these medicines are taken together. Inform the doctor if you are taking these medicines together. Appropriate dose adjustments are to be made under the doctor's supervision.

        Colchicine

        You may experience abdominal pain, diarrhea, muscle pain, and numbness in hands and feet if these medications are taken together. This interaction is more likely to happen in the elderly population with pre-existing kidney disease. Regular kidney function tests should be performed if coadministration is necessary. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement of the medicine should be done under the doctor's supervision.

        Impaired Liver Function

        It should not be used in the patients with liver injury. Frequent monitoring of liver function tests is necessary. Dose adjustments are to be made based on the severity of the liver injury. Discontinue the treatment if symptoms worsen.

        Rhabdomyolysis

        Any symptoms of muscle pain, tenderness or weakness should be reported to the doctor. Inform the doctor if you have any history of muscle disorder.

        Grapefruit juice
