About Bp At 5 Mg/50 Mg Tablet

Bp At 5 Mg/50 Mg Tablet is used to treat angina, high blood pressure and coronary heart disease. It is recommended in case of heart failure if other medications fail to work. This medication is a combination of two viz. Amlodipine and Atenolol.

Amlodipine belongs to the class of a calcium channel blocker that improves blood flow by dilating blood vessels. Atenolol belongs to the class of beta-blockers that slows down the effect of some chemical that occurs naturally in the body.

The medicine should be taken as per the dosage on the prescription. Overdosage of the drug can lead to complications. Depending on the effects the drug has on a patient, the doctor may make variations to the dosage.

    This medicine is a combination of Amlodipine, Atenolol and these drugs belong to the class of a calcium channel blocker and beta-blocker respectively. It works by inhibiting the entry of calcium into the cardiac and vascular smooth muscles and prevents the contraction of the muscles and thereby reduces the blood pressure. It also blocks beta-receptors sites in the heart, blood vessels, and lungs. It results in inhibition of epinephrine resulting in relaxed blood vessels, thus the pressure is lowered and blood flow to the heart is improved.
