About Utone 50 MG Syrup

Utone 50 MG Syrup is used in hormone replacement therapy. This means that it is orally administered into women’s bodies when they do not produce enough progesterone. It reduces menopause symptoms and the risk of cancer of the uterus. Belonging to a group of medications called Progestins, Utone 50 MG Syrup. works by inducing some changes in endometrium and decreasing the level of estrogen in the uterus.

There are few side effects of using Utone 50 MG Syrup that includes nausea, diarrhoea, mood swings, abdominal pain, flatulence, rash, itching, sleepiness, vomiting and dizziness. More serious side effects may include chest pain and discomfort, difficulty in passing urine, great lumps, fever and chills, blurred or loss of vision and convolutions.

Do not use Utone 50 MG Syrup if you have had a miscarriage, experience abnormal vaginal bleeding, are pregnant or have breast cancer. This medication is not to be given to children. A few other medicines can interact with Utone 50 MG Syrup like carbamazepine, ketoconazole, insulin, phenobarbital, venetoclax and edoxaban. Therefore, it is advisable to inform your doctor if you take any other medications. Doctors recommend to take this medication at bedtime with sufficient amount of water for as long as prescribed. The duration of action of each dose is based on factors like your age, dosage form, etc. In case of overdosing contact your doctor immediately.

    What are the uses of Utone 50 MG Syrup

    • Post Menopausal Hormonal Replacement Therapy

      Utone 50 MG Syrup is used along with estrogen in women who have achieved menopause, but haven't undergone a surgery to remove the uterus (hysterectomy).

    • Amenorrhoea

      This medication treats absence of menstruation in women of childbearing potential due to a lack of progesterone in their body.

    • Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding

      Utone 50 MG Syrup helps in treating abnormal bleeding from the vagina due to changes in hormone levels but are not caused by a pregnancy or miscarriage.

    • Endometrial Hyperplasia

      Utone 50 MG Syrup is used to prevent this condition where the female sex hormones are imbalanced and heavy bleeding or intermittent bleeding between periods are experienced.

    • Progesterone Deficiency

      Utone 50 MG Syrup helps in treating condition where progesterone level in the body is low and as a result the risk of miscarriage is very high.

    • Premenstrual Syndrome

      Utone 50 MG Syrup is also used for the treatment of symptoms experienced due to periodic changes in sex hormone levels as a part of the menstrual cycle.

    • Contraception

      Utone 50 MG Syrup may also be used as a vaginally inserted dosage form to achieve contraception.

    What are the contraindications of Utone 50 MG Syrup ?

    • Allergy

      Utone 50 MG Syrup is not recommended for use if you have a known history of allergy to progesterone or any other ingredient present with it. This medication might contain peanut oil and should never be used by patients who are allergic to peanuts.

    • Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding

      Utone 50 MG Syrup is not recommended for use if you have an abnormal bleeding episode which has not been diagnosed by a doctor.

    • Breast Cancer

      Utone 50 MG Syrup is not recommended for use if you have breast cancer or are suspected to have it. It is not recommended for use if the patient has a history of breast cancer.

    • Miscarriage

      Utone 50 MG Syrup is not recommended for use if the patient has had an incomplete miscarriage or missed abortion recently.

    • Heart And Blood Vessel Disorder

      This medication is not recommended for use in patients having an active or historic instance of stroke or heart attack. It should not be used by patients having an active or historic clotting disorder.

    • Liver Disease

      Utone 50 MG Syrup is not recommended for use in patients having a liver disease or impairment of normal liver function.

    • Pregnancy

      Utone 50 MG Syrup is not recommended for use if you are pregnant or are suspecting a pregnancy.

        Ketoconazole

        Insulin

        Report the use of insulin or any other anti-diabetic medicine to the doctor before receiving progesterone. You may need an adjusted dose of the anti-diabetic medicine and more frequent monitoring of blood glucose level in such cases.

        Phenobarbital

        Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. You may need a dose adjustment or frequent monitoring to ensure the safe use of these medicines together. Use of progesterone for birth control should be avoided while taking phenobarbital. Do not stop the use of any medicine without consulting your doctor.

        Venetoclax

        Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. You may require a dose adjustment and frequent monitoring to safely use these medicines together. Report any side effects like vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue etc to the doctor. You doctor may prescribe safer alternatives that do not interact in such cases.

        Edoxaban

        Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. You may require a dose adjustment and more frequent monitoring to safely use them together. In some cases, an alternate medicine may be prescribed to avoid interactions and unwanted side effects like unusual bleeding and bruising. Symptoms like dizziness, presence of blood in stool or vomit, severe headache etc should be reported to the doctor on priority while taking these medicines together.

        Breast Cancer

        Use of this medication is not recommended for patients having an active case of breast cancer or are suspected of having it. Report all such instance including occurrence in the past to the doctor so that an informed decision can be taken in regards to the future treatment plan.

        Liver Disease

        Do not use Utone 50 MG Syrup if the patient has a liver disease or the normal liver function is impaired.

        Thromboembolism

        Use of this medicine is not recommended in patients having a clotting disorder in which the formed clot moves from one place and lodges in another place.

        Depression

        This medicine should be used with caution in patients having episodes of depression or having a history of depression especially when estrogen is also administered in combination.

        Retinal Thrombosis

        Use of this medicine can sometimes cause a loss of vision by blocking the flow of blood from the retina to the heart. Hence caution should be exercised while using it and any abnormality in vision should be reported to the doctor.
