Dear Lybrateuser, - The above reading (systolic bp) is normal whereas the lower reading (diastolic is high for your age
- follow some healthy lifestyle changes: - restrict salt in diet, avoid deep fried, processed & junk foods, also avoid alcohol & smoking if you do
- have more of fruits, vegetables, whole grains like whole wheat, brown rice, corn, oats instead of refined ones, low fat dairy & healthy fats as in olive & canola oil or sunflower oil for cooking, nuts such as almonds, walnuts, pista, cashews (a handful of mixed nuts daily), avocados, flax & chia seeds
- reduce weight by diet & exercise which will help reduce bp & keep you fit
- do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, play an outdoor game, daily morning do yoga, meditation & deep breathing for 10-15 min which helps reduce bp
- sleep well for at least 7-8 hrs at night, keep your sleep & wake up time fixed
- can get basic investigations like blood CBC, sugar, cholesterol & ECG done to rule out any other problem
- also get bp measured by a medical professional to compare the readings & its correctness.
