Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS)is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the normal proteins in the blood, which can lead to blood clots in the veins or arteries. Blood clots, in turn, can lead to various complications such as blood clot in the veins of the leg can cause deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and the clot in the brain is the cause for stroke. Few of the symptoms of APS syndrome include; rash, DVT, stroke, cardiovascular disease, pain, swelling, another bleeding, pregnancy loss etc. The measurement of anticardiolipin antibody is important in diagnosing antiphospholipid syndrome (APS).
