From last 22 days I am having pain in anus area, I consulted a gp and he prescribed me some antibiotics and an ointment with slitz bath. No improvement and then I consulted a general surgeon he did proctoscopy and diagnosed me with anal fissure. Can it be treated with medicine. Pain is very severe. Hard stool followed by soft stool. I am also taking high fiber diet.

There are two types of Fissure in ano. First is Acute Fissure and second is chronic one. Acute Fissure is relatively very new and can be cured completely by medicines. But chronic Fissure heals and occurs repeatedly, and they are rarely cured by medicines alone, they need surgery. You can send me the details so as to advice accordingly.
